OCIYU fundraises year round to provide one of the few nationwide scholarship awards programs managed by undocumented youth for undocumented students. Our scholarship awards range from $500 for continuing college, vocational and graduate students and $250 for graduating high school and GED students attending college in the Fall 2016.
OCIYU’s scholarship is only open to undocumented immigrant students living in the United States.
As with every year, the number of scholarships will depend on how much money we are able to fundraise.
Undocumented immigrant students, are students who live in the United States without legal status. Note: undocumented students who have received Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) ARE eligible for our scholarship as DACA does not grant legal status.
No. As an undocumented immigrant youth led organization OCIYU’s members have decided to only open the scholarship to undocumented students. This stems from the lack of adequate financial aid opportunities for undocumented students, as well as from our own personal experiences as students.
Yes! OCIYU may be a small local organization, but we understand that undocumented students nationwide still have limited financial aid opportunities open to them. This is why our scholarship is open to undocumented students living in any of the 50 states.
